RE: [ST] engine management light on

Mitch,

I just wanted to clarify one thing about your procedure. Are you using the
key or the engine kill switch to shut the engine down? It does make a big
difference on these particular fuel injected bikes. The Sagem FI system on
1999-2001 ST's & Rs's needs to be shut off with the key to allow the
computer to record something about the FI system status. Shutting the engine
off with the kill switch rather than the key can, in some cases, cause
trouble with the system upon the next startup.

You may already know this, so I'm sorry if it's a moot point for you. I just
recall that when I first got my RS, I was in the habit of shutting off my
Suzuki with the switch and it had no effect on the 1990 carburetted bike.
When I started life with my RS, I noticed I was seeing that light now &
then, but after getting the habit of using the key for on/off, I've not seen
it again. Just a thought.

Ken M.
