Re: [ST] fall down - go boom

G'day Rich

Sorry to read about the "down", I have the same bike and can appreciate your
sentiments.

Regarding replacement costs, have been advised of a firm in Adelaide,
SouthOZ, who are doing reproductions of most models at a far less cost than
replacing with originals. Will try to contact them through a mate and see
what we can find out, other than that, not sure how the exchange rate
affects these items but as your dollar is twice ours, have you considered
buying from OZ over the net?

Just on the down, are you sure it was due to coming into the corner too hot?
Reason I ask is because I just had the rear shock replaced on mine at 1000
k's because it had leaked oil whilst in storage and had no rebound control.
I thought the variation in handling was me not being used to the battleaxe
rear tyre but the beading and wear pattern didnt match what the bike was
(and wasnt) doing . Took it back to the dealers, quick rebound test while
standing still and hey presto theres your problem. The lack of oil and
control meant that the rear end was skipping under power coming out of
corners and losing traction going in under front brake so all up was a
fairly weird experience. May be worth checking your shock as well just in
case there was a faulty batch (mines an 8th month 2001 build) which may then
help you to get the fairings done under dealership. Just a thought and stay
safe.

Cheers, Chris 955ST
