Re: [ST] Radar installation

<snip>
 If you are going fast enough to NEED a detector
 you should be concentrating on the ROAD.
<snip>

What's fast enough? On regular streets I don't go but 5-8 mph over the
limit, and on the highway 10-20 over.
I know that the V1 is probably the best on the market, but I think a less
expensive one might do unless one drive faster than I just mentioned.

Keep in mind that vehicle size has much to do with the distance a cop can
detect your speed. Semi's are a a big disadvantage 500 feet +, cages
(depending on the quality of the radar) can be detected at 300 to 450 feet
away from the cop. Our trusty steeds although I don't know the number, will
definitely fall below the 300ft mark. So having said this, I think even a
less expensive model like a Bel would probably suffice because they will
detect the signal before we get within range, giving us time to slow.

However, not matter what we are running, if the cop uses instant on we're
all nailed. No detector in the world will protect us from that.

My thoughts.
