Bil,
I had thoughts about getting a front jack, until I realised that there's
nothing on the pre-fabricated market that would allow me to strip the head
races!
I came to the conclusion that a 41.5 cm piece of wood underneath the
crankcase lug at the front left-hand corner of the engine would do the
trick. Brace it at the base so that it won't slip, and this, together with
the centre-stand makes for a sturdy jack. Cheap too!
