Gerrit,

I can confirm the flat spot below 3K on the '02 motors :(

This morning I was stuck in traffic, rolling slowly uphill at an indicated 8MPH
when I realised that I had the throttle completely closed and the motor was
idling at 1100RPM. Yes, there is that much creamy smooth torque available from
waaaay down.

When I opened the throttle to accelerate away it bogged down completely at 2500,
surged badly, threatened to stall, and finally there was what sounded like a
spiting back carb, but from the front of the motor, before it pulled cleanly
away from just over 3000 RPM.

Dunno if mine is typical of the '02s, I sincerely hope not, but it really feels
like there is a gem of a motor in there if it was set up corectly.
