Ohlins are available form LOTS of other sources, although The best is
Wim Kroon in the Netherlands.
http://www.ohlins.nl/ the MOST important thing about getting the
rear shock right is getting the correct weight spring for your
weight. The standard spring for the ST is a 14kg spring. This is good
up to about a 185 lbs rider. you need to add 1kg for each 20lbs or
so. I have a 15kg fitted to mine which is just right for my 200lbs
plus hard bags. Keep in mind that the factory 2 bag set up adds about
30lbs to the bike. If you need to talk with someone about what spring
to have the shock setup with contact:
Ohlins USA
703 C Old Spartanburg Rd
Hendersonville, NC 28792
(828) 692-4525
Also very important don't mention Wim Kroon. A year or so ago they
where asked not to sell to US customers by Parts unlimited, the US
importer.. why you ask// Because the price currently from Kroon as
listed on their web site is 700 euros's which is $609.00!!!! ( plus
shipping of about $35.00 for air mail) Yes $500.00 LESS than what
your local dealer wants for it!! My advise is to go to Kroon's site
and order it on line specifying what ever spring you need.. and than
hope that they are still shipping to the USA. I had heard that they
started shipping again but if word gets out and especially to dealers
and Parts Unlimited they may shut off the flow again.
Erik
PS: The Ohlins is an awesome product!
PPS: The bike benifits more from getting the front forks done than
the rear shock although doing both is the dog bullocks!
