Communicator OR Chatterbox

Whisdom from any owners of either..or others would be
greatly appriciated. What is actual range?
reliability?
battery life? audio quality at speed? I know what the
vendors and manufacturers claim but I wanna know what
they REALLY do after one shells out $300+ bones on
one, My friend and I will each have to buy one for
this 5000+ mile trip through the midwest this coming
aug. She will be on her bike and me on my ST Dont
wanna get stuck with crappy equipment.
