Re: [ST] RE: XB8R vs. RS

Please note that these two bikes aren't targetted
towards the same crowd (but neither is the 22 that
started this conversation).

Having never ridden either - I am forced to go on the
numbers. The XB8R (the one with the fuel in the frame
and the oil in the swinger) wieghs 385 lbs (dry) and
has 92 HP and 68 Ft-Lbs of Torque. The RS wieighs 438
lbs with 118 HP and 72 ft-Lbs of Torque.

Buell = .239 HP/Lb, .177 Ft-Lbs/Lb
Sprint RS = .269 Hp/Lb, .165 Ft-Lbs/Lb.

So, it guess it comes down to Torque v. Horsepower;
but it personally looks like a dead heat to me. I
guess the point was the little Buell is supposed to be
'the best handling stock streetbike in the world',
with super aggressive attack angles and a wickedly
short wheelbase.

I do admit that I was clearly in error - the gentleman
said he wanted, quick, fast, nimble, and comfortable
- -- not the quickEST (IMHO, the GSXR1000), fastEST
(IMHO, the Hayabusa), the MOST nimble (IMHO, the
XB8R), nor the MOST comfortable (IMHO, the
BMWK1200RS).

I personally am really liking what I'm seeing from
Buell. They seem to be growing some cajones, and it
is irking the "jap bikes rule, everything else is
unreliable" adolescent crowd. I tend to enjoy irking
that crowd.
