Steady use in general. I don't do a lot of riding in the rain. But I've
usually had to renew treatment every couple of months to keep the effect.
More if there's been a lot of bug cleaning necessary.
I keep a face shield that's rain-x treated (and also has a Fog City
anti-fogging insert) in the race trailer. Usually have to treat it once at
beginning of season and it will last all season long (usually through three
or four rain race weekends that we get in SE US.). Indispensable for those
times you find yourself in a monsoon at Road Atlanta.  :-)
I also keep one that's been treated in the tank bag/hard bags and pull it
out often for early morning riding (humidity/fogging) as well as rain.
I don't like to use it at night though. Tends to give lights a "halo"
effect. And that's bad when you're alread wearing contacts that gives
everything at night a "halo".............
