[ST] Dead batteries?

Anyone else experience premature battery death on an ST?  Mine is 19 months old and was running perfectly last week.  After one week in a warm L.A. garage (moved here the 26th), I tried to start it last night and the battery was obviously all but dead.  Is this covered under warranty or are batteries excluded?  I've never had a battery go dead on any of my bikes, hell, my dad's ZX-11 is 8 years old and still on the OEM battery...
