A catalytic converter will not reduce CO2 emission, it makes sure that 
as much unburnt hydrocarbon and CO are converted to the less noxious CO2 
which is merely thought to be a major contributor to global warming. 
Catalytic converters are a local pollution prevention measure not a 
global one.
