Paul, one of our fellow listers has done a major mod to the stock can.  I 
*think* it was Mike Benson.  He took off the outside wrap, cut about 4" from 
the center, which also deleted the baffels, cut the wrap to fit and 
reinstalled.  He swears it's the sweetest sounding muffler on the planet.

Go to the archives and type in "cut down can".  The first entry will give 
you some ideas.
