Bare,
With all due respect, this is not completely true. Although the synthetic
lube will mix with the semi-synth or mineral oil, the properties of the "mix
and match" blend that you end up with is unpredictable at best. This is not
only stipulated in the Triumph manual, were they advise us not to mix
different types of oil, except in emergencies with a complete filter and oil
change as soon as possible afterwards, but it is actually common knowledge
in automotive circles.
Semi synthetic lubricants contains certain esters which are scientifically
blended together after much testing. It's not a question of the factory
taking half a pint of fully Synthetic mixed with half a pint of mineral oil,
bottle it together in order to fill a niche in market.
