Re: [ST] ST stands up under braking

Hi, Colin,

Mine too... and it begs!

Seriously, apparently it's normal, something to do with gyroscopic forces
and the size of the brake discs, but I'm no engineer so don't take my word
for it. Both my Honda VFRs used to do it, too. I have found there's a bit
less "stand up" now I'm riding on Avon Azaros, rather than the Bridgestone
OEM tyres. I have found that sometimes to best thing to do if you find
yourself on the wrong (ish) line in a bend is to power on gently and lean it
over harder. Braking and /or throttling off will make you run wide, which I
imagine is not exactly the effect you're after. It's counter-intuitive, but
it works. I read somewhere that there's a WSB Honda with very small front
discs, 190 mm I think, but it has FOUR of them - idea is to minimise the
gyroscopic effect so that direction changes are easier and to allow for a
bit of undisciplined braking. Of course, we should all get gear, braking
and positioning right before we get into the corner, but it doesn't always
work out like that.

Being only 150lbs, the last thing I need are stiffer springs, so can't help
you there!
