I'll cast a vote for the Avon 39/40 combination, particularly if you're
prone to riding in a spirited fashion.
They result in a smooth and fast turn in an will stick like glue in both dry
and wet conditions.

If you're more into better milage than outright performance then the Avon
35/36 combination will probably suit you better but they don't have the
outright grip of the 39/40s, particularly in the wet.
