Warning on Frame Sliders, was RE: [ST] Another plug for Skyking P roducts.

After my gravity storm in March, I was going to get frame sliders as part of
the repair/service effort. Fortunately/unfortunately, the dealership forgot
to order them (fortunate 'cause I was running out of dough!). When the
subject came up, Mickey told me that the sliders are all fine and dandy when
you have a very low speed drop. However, as the speed goes up, the sliders
can end up causing MORE damage because they're attached to the engine cases,
....

I don't know for sure if this is true for all sliders, any sliders, or just
some sliders, but more investigation into the subject is warranted. How do
sliders change the damage equation in 20,30,40 or faster lowsides?

Mike,
Thanks for the feedback on the risers.. I'm ready to order a set as
soon as they are available. I put over 6K on the ST and have decided I
would like a little higher bar.

I will also order a set of frame sliders as the dreaded "Gravity Storm"
hit here in Pennsylvania on Wednesday. No warnings on the Weather
Channel either!!!. Can't believe just how easy the bike can get away
from you -- just a little bit over center and there's no stopping it.
Also can't believe how a 0 mph tip over can mess up the lower fairing
and saddle bag. Looks like a new lower at least. I think the frame
slider would have eliminated all or most of the damage, so I guess a set
is in order to protect the left side -- too late for the right.

Almost took it back and put it in the garage, but finally came to my
senses and realized I bought the ST to ride - not look at. Just got
back from a company meeting in Atlantic City, but the ride down and back
was great!! Hey --When you're on the bike - you can't see the scrape!!!
