Erik,
 That sounds more like the Daytona shifter.  When I got mine I
specifically ordered the Daytona model to try and found it to be
entirely to close to the pegs.  When I ordered mine they said the
shifters were about 15mm different in length, the Sprint being shorter.
I tried the shifter as it came and couldn't use it without moving the
foot peg up.  I took the lever and had ~5/8 of an inch removed, slightly
more than the 15mm.  Now $20 dollars later I have a one piece shifter
that works like butter.

So I got the one piece NSW shift lever today. Fits great, and really
nicely 
made. Only problem is my BIG FEET. The NSW puts the lever about 3/4 of
an 
inch too close to the foot peg, Damn!   Anyway if any one wants it they
can 
have it for what I paid  $60.00  and I'll pay shipping. I would suggest 
that if you have big feet 11 or better not to bother unless you ride on
the 
balls of your feet, I don't
