The two thin wires running along the inside of the grip tube looked a bit
fragile to me when I installed my heated grips.  Perhaps they were a little
too tight on your bike and one of them has parted company from the grip?
You should be able to follow the black cable from the grip to a two-pin
connector, unplug that and check the resistance with a multimeter.  Compare
it with the right one to see if they are roughly the same.

Strange that the left one should die, as the wiring on the right side gets
more movement when the throttle is operated.  If the wiring on the left has
broken, I suggest you make sure the wiring on the right has plenty of slack
to allow for throttle rotation, otherwise it might break too.
