Matt,

I had the same issues but decided to try them out. Sliders probably 
aren't for everyone.  They aren't new technology but I know they help 
minimize damage and these are similar to ones I've seen work on other 
bikes.  I hope not to test them myself, but no one ever does. They do 
stick out far enough to protect the fairing.  Sorry that the photo 
doesn't really show that. Cost seems reasonable to me and the weight is 
negligible. I could lose a couple pounds to make up for it.  As for the 
looks - maybe I'm blinded by the ST but I don't really notice the 
sliders.  You might feel differently.  Anyway, if I ever decide they're 
too ugly to live with, I've still got the original engine mounting 
bolts.  Don't know about the discount but you could ask.
