Re: [ST] oops!!! need some advice

The best method I have found for fixing broken fairing tabs is to use the
fiberglass cloth (the woven type, not the matting) that is available in the
paint and bodywork section of any auto parts store. However, instead of
the usual fiberglass resin or epoxy, I use a couple of tubes of "Super
Glue" (you know that stuff that is great for gluing fingers together
instantly).

First, use the glue to bond all of your pieces back together. Then, spread
some glue on the surfaces to be repaired, and wrap small sections of the
fiberglass cloth around the area. Finally, soak all of the fiberglass
completely through with more glue. You will definitely need a pair of
rubber gloves since you will need to hold the entire mess together until it
sets up. It only takes a couple of minutes and it is very durable. You
can completely wrap your tab and then easily cut new holes or trim excess
material with a knife or scissors once it all dries. I repaired several
tabs for a friend, and after several years and 25,000 miles they are still
holding up.
