[ST] Costs of riding

Hello Everybody,

I've been lurking for quite some time now but got sufficiently worked
up today to post.

I am 24 years old and ride a 2002 RS (Acidic Yellow for the record). I
am currently paying about AU$2100 per year for insurance (that's about
$1050 for all of you in the States). I was of the opinion that this is
a lot of money but while I am paying off the bike I have to have it
insured.

Now, with the release of the Victorian Government's State Budget, I
read that all motorcyclists will be required to pay a further $50 fee
for 'safety awareness' campaigns. It seems to me that drivers should
all be paying $50 for a 'motorcycle awareness' campaign if anything.

I would be interested to hear from other members about this issue.
Methinks the motorcycle fraternity will not accept this with a cheery
grin!
