The German ADAC car driver magazine did a test a few years ago of full
braking on snow. It was a simulation of a panic stop at a traffic light,
e.g. if another vehicle was unable to stop for a red light. With ABS, you
stopped in a straight line. Without ABS, you might end up sideways by the
time you'd finished skidding, but the braking distance was much shorter than
with ABS.
