RE: [ST] rear brake pads



Jack,

Not sure what pistons you're talking about. When I had the caliper off, I
saw two pistons that are on the left(chain) side of the bike and push
towards the silencer. The pad on that side is the one with no wear. I'm
actually not sure how the other pad gets pushed/pulled onto the disk, as
there are no pistons on that side of the caliper.

With the pads off, I did clean the pistons and push them out by pressing the
brake pedal...same procedure as for the fronts, only there are 4 pistons-2
on each side.

Can anyone tell me how the pad on the the right(silencer) side gets
actuated?

Chris, I suspect you have stuck pistons on the outboard side. Did you press
the pedal with the pads out and watch the pistons move? That would explain
the lack of power also.
