Cool, hopefully you will not be out of pocket to much.

I can definately see the bennefits of lane splitting. When I was
in the Bay area I did my share. The only place where I almost
got taken out was when I was trying to from the HOV lane to the
exit ramp, had to slow down a LOT to start to cut accross. The
car behind me did not see me slow down and wound up lane sharing
with me going about 40 MPH faster. If I stayed closer to the
right tire track of the HOV lane while slowing down he would
have nailed me from behind.

As well, can't remember the name of the HWY, anyway the bypass
to get to Marin Count on the East side of the Bridge, the light
turn red, and I started to slow, I noticed the dump truck was
not. Luckily, I had down shifted into first and hit it. When I
crossed the white line the light was red, don't know what in the
hell he was thinking. After the light I did notice that he
started driving at a crawl, I guess he he started to realize
that he almost killed me and the people on the cross street that
had startedto move when he went pass them.

Even though CA might be very motorcycle friendly, I would not
want to learn how to ride a bike there.

Please let us know how the settlement betweenyou and the car
driver works out. Hopefully you and the bike will be back to speed
soon.
