RE: [ST] RS headlights ... lousy ?

The Euro bikes and the American bikes DO have diffents headlights.

Those in the states will see a DOT or SAE stamped in the lens showing
the light has been certified.

Those in euro, will find an E code stamped in the lens.

There is a pretty significant difference in the way the lens' work.
Especially the curb side lens.

Mine did the same thing you describe until I raised the aiming point 2 1/2
turns of the adjuster. We, in the States, have H4 bulbs in what looks like
typical european headlights (except for the shape). I don't get headlight
flashes from oncoming traffic, but I'll bet they are close to doing it.

On the subject of headlight aiming, am I the only one who finds the main
beam on my RS rather scary? It's like a pencil beam spotlight. Approaching
bends I get a great view of the kerb and verge directly ahead of me, but off
to either side is inky blackness, I can't see where the road goes! My old
VFR floodlit everything, it was like riding in daylight. Don't get me wrong
I would never trade my RS back in for a Viffer, but was disappointed to find
that the RS isn't better in *every* way!

By the way, I'm in the UK. Stateside bikes probably have different
headlights.
