Re: [ST] Another year w/ the ST

Hi there Mike and STers

I currently own a 99 ST, Big Red, and have put 20K on her. She still has
the original battery, and has been trouble free. I am 57 years old and have
been riding since about 1955, mostly on Triumph motorcycles. I am curious
as to the difference in seating position, from the ST to the Trophy. Dont
get me wrong, I think the Triumph Sprint ST is the best motorcycle in the
world, and thought that the first time I got on it. That said, I am looking
for a motorcycle I can ride for longer periods without discomfort. When I
ride, (Im 6'2, 34" inseam), my knees are bent as far as they will go, which
becomes uncomfortable. I find that my left leg-from just above the knee,
down to my ankle begins to ache after about 45minutes of riding, becoming
worse in time. Ibuprophin helps, but it just dosent go away. This has
baffaled my Dr, who first told me I had gout. Then sent me to an
orthopedist, who said I have a pinched nerve in my back. I give up. My
feet also become uncomfortable on the pegs after a few hours in the saddle.
I look at the Trophy, and see the larger rubber covered pegs, and what looks
like a more relaxed riding position. I am afraid however, that a Trophy
would not handle as well as Big Red. You own both motorcycles, what do you
think? Is the Trophy's riding position more relaxed? Do your knees bend
less? Are the footpegs more comfortable on long trips? And MPGS? Big Red
just returned 45mpgs, riding two up-speeds between 75 & 90, on a 200 mile
ride. Does the Trophy handle as good as the Sprint?
