Don't worry about it.  The Triumph soft panniers are pretty bloody wide when
they're full and therefore create a lot of additional drag on the normally
sleek RS.  Whenever I use my panniers I easily get a 100 km less than normal
out of a tank of fuel.  On long runs my cruising speed is around 140-150 kph
(90 mph).  As soon as the panniers come off, normal service is resumed with
350+ kilometres (220 miles) before the fuel light comes on.
