Al,

You're right, leaks do sometimes occur, and yes, there has been a thread...


Mine leaks no longer.

What you need is black (preferably) or clear (otherwise) SILICONE (i.e. NOT
bituminous) mastic/caulking, and apply it to all of the numbered points of
picture:

while you've got the rubber strip out, put a continuous bead of mastic on
each side of the channel before you replace it.

DO NOT tighten the hinge bolts too much, or the mastic will cause the gasket
to distort. The nuts are nylock, so there shouldn't be a problem with them
coming off.
