Eric,

I had the same problem that you did.

For the cable routing, it comes up past the flat plate (between the front 
and rear "legs" of the rack) and then to the lock. The plate pinches the 
cable against the underlying frame. To solve, I took out the 'ol dremel 
tool and spent about 5 minutes and ground out a nice round area in the 
plate right in the corner where it comes up so that it wasn't being pinched.

for the lock, I had to get some longer bolts and some spacers to put under 
the lock to get it up high enough that the post on the seat would engage it 
when it was closed.

And yeah, I also had to go get a couple of bolts for mine. The 4 included 
(at last 2 of them) simply weren't long enough - an extra 1/2" did the trick.
