If you take the speedo off the bike can you just rotate it
around (ie upside down ) to get the needle to go to th
e other side. I know it can be done with car instrument clusters.

I agree that it's worth a try - it worked for an old Norton I once had. Of
course, you'll need to leave your cable connected. Also, make sure your
ignition switch is off - I've no idea if the manoeuvre will thoroughly
confuse the digital portion of the instrument.
