RE: [ST] Chain - endlesss or linked?



I would venture to say that most manufacturers install endless chains on the
bikes.  It's pretty easy during bike assembly as the swingarm isn't in the
way yet.  For the second and subsequent chains, it's much easier to join and
rivet a chain around the swingarm pivot.

Since the endless chains are made by the chain manufacturer, all the links
are the same.  When you join a chain, one of the links (the master link) is
slightly different  Theoretically, the endless chain should last longer
because of this.

Use a good chain, keep it clean (not the dreaded chain lube thread!)
whatever you use is better than using nothing, stop doing wheelies and
jack-rabbit starts and any chain properly installed should last a good long
time.
