[ST] Avons -VS- 'Stones

Hey Rick in Oregon,
Just curious. When you say the Avons "feel better than the 'Stones ever
did", which Bridgestones were you referring to? BT57's? I've been using the
BT56SS' for the last 3 years and have yet to find a tire that gives better
feedback on this bike (still PO'ed that the 010's are replacing them, didn't
like those one bit ). I've run the equivelent tire in the Dunlop, Michelin,
Perelli, and Avon over the last couple of years, but keep going back to the
BT56SS for the feel and the wear (4500 miles per rear, 6700ish per front). I
know the milage may not be the best, but so far it has been the best
trade-off between durability and grip in the twisties and the wet. If anyone
is looking to get this kind of performance balance for their ST, you might
want to give these a look. They are running quite a bit cheaper now that the
010 and 012SS are the primary "Sport" 'Stones. just another quick note
before I drop back into lurk mode: Where in the heck did everybody go?! I've
been on and off this list (more off the last year due to travel and layoffs)
since the beginning (before the ST actually started rolling off of the
assembly lines), and this is about as quiet as I can remember seeing it.
What gives? Ah well: change...what can you say...
