Rick,
Jesus you must ride the wheels off that ST. I'm on my second set of 020's
on my RS and I'd like to think that I ride with a little spirit and also
tour just a bit - i.e. no chicken stripes and 15k on the clock in two and a
half years. Something sounds wrong with your setup. I've done extended
highway stretches fully loaded at the speeds you mention and have never
gotten blisters on the rear. Most recently I road from Buffalo to Troy (NY)
at speeds between 90 and 105 mph for about 3 hrs with a decent amount of
gear in 90 degree heat and the tire looked fine.
I've never gotten less than 8k out of a rear and usually get just under 10
out of the front.
Just my 0.02 and probably worth about as much.

I am also disappointed in the wear characteristics of the BT57's. I
wore the rear out in less than 2300 miles and the front is now gone at
4500 miles. The BT 020 has only been slightly better. Currently I have
2200 miles on it and it is half gone. I rode to Mid-Ohio last month and
cruised at 85-90 mph (indicated) for about 2 1/2 hours on I-77. The
rear BT 020 had blisters on it. The air pressure was 42 psi cold when I
checked it upon my return. I am going to try the new Michelin Pilot
Road next.
