[ST] Shot gun troubleshooting



Unfortunately you are right.  It happens more often than not.  I don't
believe it's due to the ever increasing complexity of things.  I believe
it's due to the lack of well educated, well trained individuals.  I place
most of the blame on our educational system.

Incindentally, where I grew up, we call that method of fixing a problem
"shot gunning" or "shooting from the hip".  They generally get to the right
area of the problem, then just start changing parts until it works.  I
cringe just thinking about it.
