RE: [ST] Daytona parts

Apex, my good friend,

I'm not sure about the forks, but I think not, even with the triple clamps.
I do know they are a larger diameter than the ST. The motor will directly
replace an ST, I've seen it done.

But let me maybe suggest a different tack. With the cash you are sure to
outlay on this grand experiment and end up with possibly dubious results,
there is one alternative. Just go out and buy a used ST (they can be had
for a song, if you are patient, I know), and then use you trashed ST as a
spare's bike. You would probably never have to buy another part for the new
bike (except consumables). You would have a spare set of wheels for track
tires, spare seat for custom fitting, spare quick disconnects for the
tank,,,,, you get the idea.

I promise you can find a NICE, pre-owned 99-01 ST for under 5 grand, and you
will spend that much or more, if you start replacing all that you have
mentioned, in addition to a motor. The market for used Sprints is very
soft, a good thing for those of us that prefer to OWN them, not so good for
those wanting to sell. Too bad, so sad, but I love the ST, and if they
don't change one thing on them for the next ten years (ala the Concours) I
will be a happy man, and should be on ST number 5 by then.

happy trails,
