I am one of the people who has done the Race Tech springs in the front and
left the rear shock alone. I have no complaints at all. I have a friend
who had an extra set of springs for his Bandit 1200, I called Race tech and
asked if they would be a direct swap. They were a direct swap and I have
had them for about 20,000 miles now. Before the springs were upgraded I had
my preload cranked all the way down and the front still was way to under
sprung for my weight. I weigh 225 with out gear. Now I have turned the
preload to where 4 lines are showing and the ride is fantastic compared to
the old springs. I feel the bike tracks fine, I have no issues at all since
this install.
I recently got a Daytona to go with the RS and did the same mod to the front
of the Daytona. I have had an opportunity to take it to the mountains with
the new springs and WOW is all I can say. I asked the tech at Race Tech
what the stock spring set up was on the RS and he said that Triumph
generally sets the bikes up for 140-150lb riders. He also told me that the
japanese set their bikes up for 160lb riders. Who knows how true this
statement is, but the RS and the Daytona I have were way to soft.
