I forgot exactly how much I paid, but I think it was closer to $400.  In 
addition to the stuff you listed (plus oil change), they checked the valve 
adjustment.  This is my first bike too, but I'm going to ease myself into 
doing as much of the maintenance as I can as soon as I can.
