Not that I'm advocating anything, but you should know that most Harley
shops sell imitation D.O.T. stickers. Although they're not illegal, you
may have to ask someone behind the counter for one. It *is* illegal if
you put one of these stickers on your non-D.O.T.-certified helmet, but
law enforcement officers do not have the latitude to determine whether
the D.O.T. sticker on your helmet it genuine or not during a roadside
traffic stop. The only thing the LEO can do is check you helmet for the
presence or absence of a D.O.T. sticker, and potentially issue a ticket
if your helmet lacks the sticker.
