I run BP "premium" in my 2002 RS. I tried running "regular" once (89 octane in US) and my bike started rattling badly when under heavy load. So I switched back to premium on the next tank and things went back to normal. 

Maybe it's due to the compression increase in the 2002 motor (11.? -> 12:1)?
