But what if the battery is completely dead, as happens quite easily  if the 
ignition switch is turned a notch too far, and the parking lights are left on 
for a day or two. I once did this to a Kawasaki KLR 650 , which has an ignition 
switch identical to the Triumph one, and it wouldn't bump start. Dave
