I've never had an issue with rain, but then again I didn't run it that way
but for about 6 months (see bike washing comment). Haven't replaced/fixed
it since. But I would say if concerned, you could waterproof the detector
with a plastic bag or somesuch. The area I mounted it in seems to stay
pretty dry in rainy riding conditions, just not in low pressure wash
conditions. Maybe as a test you could stick a dry rag up in that area nest
time you ride in the wet and see how much moisture accumulates? I might do
that test myself.
