I did the the same thing a year ago; most bang for the buck performance mod
you can make!
Like you, I found myself occasionally looking for another gear above 6th.
But I am still very glad I made the change.  I also had no chain adjustment
left after the change, and had one link removed to compensate.    The OEM
Regina chain was pretty much shot anyway after 10,000 miles, and I replaced
it after another 1 or 2000 miles.  
IMHO, this is the way the bike should have been geared to begin with.  Bike
is much peppier in every gear, and 1st and 2nd much more useable at lower
speeds. Enjoy!
