RE: [ST] Valve design



Well, you're right there, pays to think about things before hitting the send
button.  However, in over 40,000 miles I don't think the wear I've
experienced is out of line for any engine.   Allowing the valves to stay out
of spec too long will accelerate wear and cause poor performance.

If the valves are getting tighter, most likely they are cupping. If the cam
or shims are wearing, the valves would be getting looser.

Only wear on the valve and valve seat will cause the valves to get tighter.
