[ST] Cleaning Exhaust Pipes

I'm thinking of spending the Thanksgiving holiday doing maintenance on the bike. Since I have a CF can to install and my exhaust header nuts are loose anyway, I figure I'll drop the whole system, give it a cleaning, and reinstall with new header gaskets.

So what works well on cleaning up seriously blue/brown header pipes? I realize it will discolor with use, but I'm willing to put a few hours of polishing in. Besides, it will let me get the front of the engine really clean too.
