ok, i'm back on my project of sourcing a 'day-bag' that fits the Triumph
tank bag mount pad, and will accept the Triumph map pocket.
the person i'm working with is Linda of Custom Tank Bags [
http://www.customtankbags.com/ ]. [if you have another source, that would
be fine - this vendor was the only one i found easily, and has a good
repurtation].
i'm looking for someone near Springfield, VA [the one near Mt Vernon;
Mapquest gave me a choice of four!] who has a factory tank bag on their
bike and would ride by there if she wants to see one. maybe someone with
the front-stow cover and someone with the bottom-stow?
another issue is 'how tall?' for the short bag. my "settled in",
cover-in-the-bottom-pocket bag measures 7" tall at the rear, 8" at the
front. the expansion zipper gives about 3 3/8".
i'm suggesting a short bag at 4", so it can, per Brian's suggestion, be
stacked on top of the standard bag. for my typical TSRA/HSTA/etc., weekend
i can ride there with both bags, do the day loops with the short bag, and
double up to get my stuff home.
but- would 4 1/2" be better? 3 7/8"? 5"? 4.23779"? i struggle with life's
simple choices...
cheers
bp
