[ST] Most disgusting thing EVER

(OK, maybe not ever, but pretty disgusting anyway)

Grace & I met some friends downtown at a new restaurant in the LA Loft
District - Pete's Cafe & Bar on Main St. (more about this in a moment). We
parked our bikes in the structure across the street.

Where once they had specific m/c parking on the 2nd level, now they asked
up to go into the basement and use whatever nooks we could find, of which
there were many.

I'd parked in that structure before, and the 2nd floor was well-lit and
visible, so I never balked at locking my 'Stich and helmet on the bike
(note for the non-downtown LA types - this is 1 block from Homeless Central
and 2 blocks from the SRO hotel where most of the parolees are released
to). I asked the attendant what he thought about leaving our gear on the
bikes downstairs. He made a face, thought about it, and said we should
leave them in the parking office, right by his station. I thanked him, and
handed him a tip (cash always does get people's attention a bit higher,
I've found).

We parked, walked up to the parking office, dropped out Stiches and helmets
on an empty desk, and went to dinner.

Dinner was awesome; this may be one of the better bistros is LA, and not
stupidly expensive for the quality of the food and service. Can't suggest
it enough.

And then...

...left our friends, walked across the street to the parking structure,
went into the office, turned on the light, picked up my Stich - AND A
BAZILLION COCKROACHES RAN OUT FROM UNDER IT!! AND WHEN I PICKED UP OUR
HELMETS, MORE RAN OUT FROM UNDER THEM!!

Grace was jumping up and down and yelling.

We picked up one stich, and shook it out, and wagged the sleeves. I even
took off the back protector to make sure there was nothing under there. Did
the same to the other one.

Pulled the liners up in the helmets, shook them out, shined my Streamlight
ultrabright flashlight in them, and we still had real trouble putting them
on.

The whole way home, my head and back itched. I was convinced I was covered
with crawling baby roaches. Then when we got home, Grace squirmed out of
her Stich in the driveway, equally convinced...

...we didn't find any, thankfully...
