[ST] Grease your shifter linkages

Hi everyone:
The white stuff you saw was aluniminium oxide, the by-product of the alloy pieces corroding or oxidising.
Anything oily will help prevent this from occuring. Grease will stay put better than oil and won't wash away when the bike is cleaned.
I stopped the process in its entirety by replacing the shift linkages with a one piece shifter. My balls are GONE!
