[ST] Bad chain...bad chain

I had my chain snap a link, actually the side plate, and it decided to stay
on the countershaft sprocket. While on the sprocket it met all it's friends
and jammed between the swingarm and the countershaft sprocket. It looks
like it busted the 2 right( shift lever side ) mounts for the transmission.
I even had the new chain for replacement within 2 days; sometimes it's like
I just can't win.
Does anyone know if the transmission is separate from the engine case or
is it all one big casting? I'm even sure I want to know how much something
like this is going to cost; can't really afford it thanks to a year of
unemployment then a pathetic job for some income at least. Would these
mount points be candidates for re-welding by a competent welder?
TIA for anything
Brad Applegate
