Re: [ST] Way to hear Valve Rattle? WAS-> valve rattle

I was wondering about this.... when I sold my ZX-11d,
the guy who bought it tried to work my price down my
saying the valves were loose and would need
adjustment. He started the bike and then covered the
end of the exhaust with his knee, muffling the bike.
The bike started to slowly wind down, but once the
exhaust was muffled u could hear the engine a lot
better. Not sure if what we were hearing were lose
valves or just the fact that the bike's engine was
more audible, but perhaps this is a good test? Or at
the very least a good tactic when buying a bike and
trying to work the price down?
