RE: [ST] Speed bleeders

Some have tried the speed bleeders and really like them. I haven't and
can't comment on them.

The mushy feeling is definitely caused by the pistons in the calipers
getting gummed up with road and brake grime. Cleaning them out with brake
cleaner and/or taking the calipers off and 'exercising' the pistons by
pushing them in and pumping them out a few times sets them good again for
awhile, but they get progressively worse until (in my case) the inside
(close to the wheel) pistons don't move at all. My inside pads were hardly
used and my outside pads were gone.

I noticed in the Triumph Service Manual, that they are recommending the
seals in the brake calipers be replaced every 2 years. I seriously doubt
that my dealer did them during my extended service warranty and I just
replaced them myself at the end of my fifth season (47,000 miles). It has
made a world of difference. They are like new again. The job isn't too
difficult, but the seal kit isn't cheap and bleeding the brakes without a
mityvac or similar unit would have taken much more patience than I have.
The brakes took everything the rally and Utah could throw at them (about
2300 miles) and they still feel like new.

I've got that mushy feeling again, just 2500 km after 2 year major service.
Anyone try these on the ST: www.speedbleeder.com ?
